Honouring Heritage Through Design
This project was designed to reflect the values and long-term vision of the We Wai Kai Nation, creating a lasting community asset. The facility includes meeting spaces, administrative offices, and a council chamber that support engagement in a setting rooted in cultural heritage. Through the use of local materials, Indigenous art, and sustainable design strategies, the building expresses the Nation’s story while prioritizing energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The exterior panels were designed by Jessica Chickite, a Lekwiltok artist from the Cape Mudge Band of the We Wai Kai Nation. WA Architects also led the interior design, explore our approach here.
